About us
"Independent"
First Christian Church of Mooreland is said to be an "independent" church, in the sense that we have no denominational ties (see our history). On the other hand, we put great value in the relationships we enjoy with the other churches in our area, and we work together for the common ministry God has given us. We received that ministry from God and it is only by the power of the Holy Spirit working in us that we can carry it out. So as you can see, we're actually a fairly dependent church.
Broadly Evangelical
We believe in a respect for others' interpretations of scripture within an evangelical theology, which is to say we believe in the centrality of the gospel and the need for everyone to have a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. We also believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God and our final authority for faith and practice. See our statement of faith for more particulars.
We have a church building from the 1800s and a community ministry center from the 2000s. We strive to adapt to the needs of the community to demonstrate the love of Christ and share the life-giving message we have been entrusted with.
In the center of Mooreland
If you drive through the town of Mooreland, you will undoubtedly see the two steeples of the church building on Broad St, across the road from our Community Ministry Center and the post office. But in case you don't know where Mooreland is...
The purpose of First Christian Church is to
exalt God
in Christian fellowship
by maintaining public worship and spiritual instruction,
by caring for the spiritual and physical wellbeing of its members and of the community,
and by seeking to bring others to a saving faith in Jesus Christ
as revealed in the Word of God.
